Public companies have a CEO and/or a President (sometimes the same person, sometimes different people). They’re the person who is ultimately in charge of the direction of the company. Often times they are the person most investors will be most familiar with. Sometimes investors are betting on the horse, but often investors are betting on the jockey. What that means is investors are trusting when a CEO and/or President says “Hey, invest in my project” no matter what the project is.
Executive Branding works very similarly to the branding of a public company. So your public company website is up to date with news releases and the news is being broadcast through your social media channels. The CEO and/or President of your public company should be rebroadcasting the news to their followers on their own social media. Here is an example which describes the reach of your public company news:
Let’s say your public company has some great news with regard to your project. So you put out a news release to the wire, then post it to your public company website. Now you post those news releases to your public company Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook profiles (added bonus if a public company has Instagram!). The CEO/President should already be active on those social platforms. Many CEO’s and Presidents get involved in projects with other companies, so they should have a large following on LinkedIn at the very least. Acting as the CEO/President, go and find your public company’s latest news release and like it. They perhaps comment on it. Then share it with your network. So a news release will be out there on your public company website, public company social media accounts, and now it’s out there shared by your CEO/President. That’s a lot of potential eyeballs. As an added bonus, Google regularly indexes posts so it will index both the post by the public company as well as the CEO/President and return those results during a search.
